My 53 year old wife’s jeep is a 2013, 58k miles, and 35’s. Never off road or driven hard.

Pulled the back rear cover to change fluid and it looked nasty. What I found was shocking, the spider gears are all chewed up.

Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks

But why did it fail with such low and easy miles on it? Was there proper amount of fluid? Why did you decide to pull the cover? Did you have suspicions?

Does it have a Trac Lock limited slip? If yes, I am in no way surprised. Many threads about chipped spider gears and black diff fluid from fried clutch packs. They are generally garbage and do not last unfortunately. They dont call em Trash-Locks for nothing...
