Does anybody know if a key blank from a 2012 will work on a 2013? I'm talking about the key with the anti-theft chip in them? I want to have an extra cut as a spare. Local shop wants $70 for a 2013 key blank and I found a place that has 2012 blanks for considerably less. I know you need both original keys to program, which I have. thanks

I was told the chip is different and to go to the dealer for a 2013 key.

I ordered a Y164-PT blank it was a bit more then the $12.15 for 2 but still reasonable compared to factory replacements.

This place has inexpensive transponder chip keys, and they work for 2007 through 2013 Wranglers.

This may be a dumb question, but if the battery goes dead, will it clear the memory of the non sentry keys? Is there a possible scenario where the new non sentry key would stop working if it is programmed correctly? Just don't want to get stuck somewhere.
