So it is a nice week here in New England and I haven’t stripped it down in a year or two (probably 2). I got 3 doors off with some issues but the rear passenger door was a bitch.

I took a mallet to the bottom of the door to get it to move. Nothing. Silicone around the hinge, nothing. I went to get a crowbar and didn’t want to use it so I tried it one last time.

It lifted right up. The silicone probably worked its way into the hinge.

tl;dr

Is there any grease/lubricant I can put in there to prevent this next time? Thanks in advance.

If you have not done it yet, you can remove the OEM hinge liners and replace w/ some that are made of a high density plastic material.

They helped me. Also, be sure to clean up the hinge pins periodically w/ some emery cloth to remove grime and any possible rustiness. Lastly, lube. I use some wheel bearing grease that's hi-temp.

Thanks, that's funny, I was going to use a similar grease. Same stuff I use on trailer hitches, bumper bolts, etc. Good stuff. https://www.boattrailerparts.com/Lubrimatic-Marine-and-Trailer-Wheel-Bearing-Grease-Tub-16-oz-Green_p_1285.html

I'll look into those sleeves. JFC if it's not one thing... lmao

I put white lithium grease on the pins every fall before I put the doors back on and they come right off, never a problem yet in 5 years
