We purchased a new JKU (our first jeep) this summer and quickly figured out why people love jeeps. Unfortunately, ours has developed the dreaded A pillar leak on both front doors. It's the typical A pillar leak where rain water trickles in under the doors, anywhere from just above the bottom front corner to half way down the bottom of the door and soaks the fronts carpets. I just took it back to the dealer for the third time to fix it. At this point I think they have replaced every possible gasket, piece of rubber or plastic attached to the door or touching the door. I tried a couple fixes found on youtube and nothing has worked so far. Is there anyone out there who has successfully fixed or had their dealer fix this leak?

Obviously this is a warranty problem and I will take it back dealer every time it rains until it's fixed. The dealer had it for a total of over two weeks for the first two repairs, each time giving me a "rental" to drive which the warranty paid for. Anyone ever had a dealer give upon the repair or offer to trade out for another jeep? At one point Chrysler is going to get tired of paying for "rental" cars.

There are area/district leak specialists. I would ask your service person when is the next time they will be at his/her dealership, and if you could please make an appointment with them.

Truckmaster Designs rain gutter extensions will probably fix it. I was going to get them for my 2013 at one point. They channel the water down and out of the A pillar where it gets stuck behind the flap/seal.

I know it may be a pain, but I’d take it to the dealer, and let them fix under warranty. These can get tricky, and I wouldn’t want an aftermarket item to be blamed for the root cause, leaving me holding the bag of stink.

Just my experience, but when you keep changing the seals it doesn't help. The seals do settle in as the Jeep ages and they do start to do a better job keeping the water out of that A pillar area. By swapping all the time, the seals don't get a chance to "break in". That being said, the door seal design at that top portion of the A pillar is not great, far from great in fact, but leaks normally lessen as a new Jeep ages a bit.

Again, just my experience.

The mucket seal between the windshield and the tub on the a-pillar is not a good design and leads to these kind of leaks with any kinds of difference in the tolerances of how the tub, windshield, and doors are assembled.

Thank you Kori. Update as of today, our jeep is still at the dealer and not fixed. I was told a door seal had to be ordered and they are waiting for it to arrive. We purchased our Jeep in July and I would estimate between the three repairs, the dealership has had it for close to 30 days. What would I need to do to open a case?

I wish you luck on this. I just went through a buy back on my 17 JKU Big Bear. It went to two different dealers first on 7 visits and 3 for the last, for a total of 71 days out of service. 7 header gaskets, 12 door gaskets in total, muckets replaced 4 times. Driver and passenger doors realigned to factory spec as they were out of spec according to one dealer. Bought the Jeep in March first visit was May last visit was November. This only gets better......

On Friday, Jan 5th, I was told Jeep is fixed and they're doing final testing, should be done after lunch. I never heard from them that day despite leaving voicemail. I call Monday and told they kept Jeep over the weekend just to make sure it was fixed. My wife arrives to pick up Jeep later Monday and discovers driver's side has been repaired and the passenger side (according to the tech) was tested and found not to be leaking. Knowing it was leaking, along with the driver side, my wife speaks with assistant service manager who says he will personally take care of it and call us the next day. My wife notes the dealer has had the Jeep 22 days (this time) and 3 hours worth of billable work has been completed.

Dealer calls on Weds, Jan 10th and says it was tested and no leaks were found. My wife arrives to pick up the Jeep to find it parked exactly where it had been Monday, along with an empty soda can she had inadvertently left on the hood. She demands to speak with assistant service manager who claims he leak tested the jeep. When she tells him about the soda can and asks how he tested, he says he used a 5 gallon bucket of water and never saw the can. I'm no expert in leak testing but I'm pretty sure a bucket of water isn't how it is done and the same water probably would have knocked over the can or maybe the guy performing the test would have noticed the can and removed it. Obviously nothing was done.

Despite this, my wife proceeds to remove her stuff from loaner and get into our Jeep. Guess what she finds? The driver's side front carpet wet. Guess what happened yesterday here in FL? It rained hard! She demands to see GM of dealership who directs her to service manager. She explains everything and he tells her they have some type of shower or pressurized water head they used to leak test Jeeps. (Wait, what about the bucket?) He takes our Jeep and runs it through their process. While my wife is waiting, assistant service manager apologizes and tells her the tech working on it had taken the carpets and seats out, and it had been completely dry. Service manager gets done testing and says our Jeep is leak free. He said the tech must have forgotten to completely dry the carpet after testing and repair. When my wife tells him the seats and carpet were removed and Jeep completely dry, he gives some explanation that still does not add up. So 3 trips and 50+ days at dealership and the saga continues. We have a case open with Jeep and are still hoping for the best.

The only thing more frustrating, than a repeat problem without a fix, is the dealer BS’n you! There are good dealers out there, maybe ask whomever opened your case, if they can recommend another dealer or tell you where and when this mysterious “leak specialist” is?

I had the same problem on a 2018 jku. First dealer I called(Papa's Jeep) laughed and told me they all leak and there was nothing they can do. I called Jeep Wave and they said they have people who specialize in fixing these leaks and they told me to schedule an appointment at a dealer and let them know Jeep Wave was involved. Called Crowley Jeep and they have a third party leak specialist that comes in on Mondays that fixes their leaking Wranglers.

They ended up replacing the weatherstrips and also resealing the cowl and so far it's been good. We're suppose to get 2+ inches of rain tomorrow, so that will be a real test!

I called Jeep Wave and they said they have people who specialize in fixing these leaks and they told me to schedule an appointment at a dealer and let them know Jeep Wave was involved. What's crazy is they claim to have found additional leaks around both rear doors and replaced everything around them as well. Our Jeep didn't leak from the rear doors. So they solve mystery leaks that didn't exist but can't fix the obvious leaks. At this point I think the dealership is taking Jeep for a ride since it's under warranty. My only hope is Jeep is going to get tired of this.

Both front doors and the passenger rear leaked on mine. I would definitely contact Jeep Wave and find another dealer. They had mine for a total of 2 days, dropped it off one day for them to look at and then dropped it off the following week for them to fix. I want to say that they use "Water Doctor" out of Connecticut who comes out and fixes the leakers for them.
