This happened twice yesterday. Both times the Jeep was sitting for at least a couple of hours and the issue happened when I first started it.

Is an automatic.

Would not shift out of first and saw RPMs go up to almost 5000 before I pulled over, put it in park and then when I put it back in drive, it was OK. I was not on a hill either time.

I plan to take to Jeep dealer but if they cant reproduce the issue, that might be a waste of time so I was wondering if anyone has had this issue and/or any insight?

Thanks,
Mike

This has been reported a few times. Usually turns out to be mistakenly put is first. If this happens again bump the shifter towards the “+” sign on the console.

Wow I feel dumb. I didn't even know the +/- was a thing and I am 99% sure that is all this was. Thanks for the quick reply @LeeH
