Have just purchased a 2003 X model with 5 speed and 4.0. It has 31.5 inch tires the pumpkin says anyway 3.07(s) I don't know if the ratio has been upgraded drives well though. What I want is a good trial jeep for forest roads and the beach. In order to get there and I drive often I have to drive about 180 miles (over the mountains but I don't mind slowing down a little.) I like the tire size now adequate for what I want without increasing the air resistance and lowering gas mileage further.

Am thinking maybe a 3.7 or 4.11 but what would take me back to the closest stock overall combination and what do you think of these choices?

Thanks for your input Bob Harrison

4.10 would be an excellent choice for your 4.0l / 5 speed with 31's. That is what came on rubi's from the factory.
