265/75/15 is the closest in size to 31x10.5x15. The 265's are a TAD bit shorter (.33") and not quite as wide (.08").

I mostly hear about people putting on 31's, 32's, 33's, etc.

is there a real difference between putting on 31's vs the 265's?

The only major difference I see may be in price...or am I off on this?

Thanks!

Usually tires for 15 inch wheels will be written like this: 31x10.50x15. But it seems more popular to write tires in bigger wheel diameters the other way. It makes no difference.

The are two different tire size designations. Back in the old days :) truck and SUV tires were designated in LT (light truck) sizes i.e. 31x10.5x15 and passenger vehicles in P-metric 265/74-15. Then LT-metric were introduced by manufacturers, probably in response to globalization and use of the metric system in most of the globe.

As long as the tires are LT rated it does not matter which one you use.
