Hey guys,
I am putting a 3 inch lift on my tj and I was wondering what people thought concerning tire size. I just can't decide on 32's or 33's. I only go offroading a few times a year so its mainly city driving. I have heard about the poor fuel economy with 33's but will one inch make a difference? Let me know!

You might as well go with the 33's. I don't think you will be happy with the 32's. The fuel economy won't be much different between those two choices and you can always use the extra 3/4's to an inch of clearance the 33's will give you.

if it was me i would go with 33's...the differences wouldn't be that much and it just seems when your goin bigger in tires anything smaller than 33 seems small (even though i planned on going smaller lol)...33 is the perfect number if u get what im sayin

Within the last two weeks I upgraded from 32's to 33's. I can tell you I noticed a power loss. I can feel a difference between those two sizes, BUT the way those 33's look makes it all better. I'm in the process of tracking my MPG....give me a couple of days and I'll post my results for you BlueBoy. With the 32's I was averaging 12 MPG and that was on a good day with a tail wind. I'm not sure if you have any engine mods or different gears, but my engine is stock. I will be doing gears and a lot of engine mods very soon. I'm actually looking into a 4.6L Stroker replacement.

If you haven't bought the kit yet, I would recommend buying the 4" lift for the 33" tires. You will want the extra clearance. All you have to do to bring life back to your Jeep, is regear your diffs. I would not put in anything less than 4.10's. What diff. gears came with your Jeep?

yup...it will not be that big a difference...your 4.0 will be fine with 33's...it will be a small difference over 32's...and while were talkin MPG...i guess all MPG is different but i have a buddy with a 4 inch lift and 33's and he gets 12...and mpala96 said he gets that on a good day with 32's...i guess its a lil different for every jeep but i'd go with 33's

Well its looking like 33's. I have 3.73 gears and a Dana 35 rear axle. What you guys think Id get highway since I have to take it 160 miles evry once in a while. Could I do it on a full tank or would I have to fill her up during?

You should have no problem traveling 160 miles on 1 tank with 33's. I'm running 35's with the same gearing as you and my speedo is still off and I'm pulling like 190 miles to a tank based on the odometer.

O.k. I have a 01 sport with a 4 inch lift with 33 bfg mudterrians and 3.73 gearing, I noticed no change in my speedometer readings and never changed the speedo gear, but what I did notice was a change in my odometer now its off about 25 miles for every 2 hundred I drive and I still get around 19 mpg. I know this from having to do bussiness trips to a power station before and after I installed the lift.

If you clock your Speedo you will find that it is indeed off by a percentage (Don't know what it is for 33's). This is why your odometor is off as well.

I got the speedo gear, 31, for my jeep to go with the 33's. I cant believe you get 19 mpg. Thats awesome, I hope to get the same results. On another note, I want to sell my stock tires, rims, and lug nuts. I only have 8,000 miles on them. How much do you guys i should post them for on ebay? 4 225/75R15 tires, 4 15X7 rims, and lugs nuts with a lock for each. Thanks guys.
