I ran Treadwright Guard Dogs that were 33x10.5 on JK #1, I think they called them 295/70/17.
That size worked well on my Teraflex 2" level kit.

We are talking about a YJ here, right?

With either width tire you will need either wheel spacers or new wheels with less back spacing or they'll rub the leaf springs in a tight turn. So that will take care of the width base.

I'm running 2.5" lift and 32x11.50's on TJ Canyon wheels with 1.5" SpiderTrax spacers. There's no rubbing and it's very stable. No feeling of being top heavy.

I have 33 10.50 bfg km2's on my yj and my tj..... I wouldn't have it any other way..... top heavy is a non issue.....just put that out of your mind....

Pretty much this. I ran 33x10.5s on my Blazer for a while, and tire selection in those sizes is very limited. I think BFG still offers the size in both KO and KM versions, and General has the Grabber X3. There might be another one or two tires in 33x10.5 out there, but choices are more varied when you jump to the bigger width.

Personally, I am a fan of the "tall and narrow" tire, for many of the reasons listed in the linked article, above. Plus, to my old eyes, they look "right", especially on older rigs.

Have you considered going to a 16 or 17 inch wheel and metric tire? That could solve the selection dilemma.

Good call. A 255/85R16 measures a true 33" x 10" and a 285/75R16 comes in at 32.8" x 11.2". Either one of those sizes has a lot more tire selection.

tirerack.com shows a LOT more selection for the 285/75R16.

Edit: However, the 16's are all load range D and &, whereas the 15's are generally load range C.

My set of the original BFG AT's turned me against them. Maybe the 2's are better, but while I got 93,000 miles out of the 235/75R15's I had mounted back in '93 or '94 and they still had some tread left, their on road traction in anything other than hot and dry weather was far less than desirable. I get far better traction from my 32x11.50 Falken Wildpeak AT's than the BFG's ever dreamed of. Of course, this is just my own personal experience with them. But even the Pep Boy's el cheapo 235/75R15 I replaced them with had better on road performance than they did.

So, for me, BFG's...mmmm...no thank you.

I have 33 1050 15 km2's on both my yj and my tj... 255 85 16 E km2's on my ford dually and 235 85 16 ko2's on my gmc dually....

I am in the process of buying a wheel a month from quadratec.
On a budget.
Went with the 15” on advice from my tire guy.
Have you priced the 15’s vs the others?
May not be the same everywhere, but around here the savings are enough.

I am from the stone age. :D

They were the original AT's. How are yours on slushy/icy highways? I think it due to the rubber compound they used. If they've changed it then I might consider a set of the new stuff.

$$$ is also a consideration to be taken into account. Very good point! 33's also look better on 15's, plus they will have better sidewall flex and conformity offroad.
