hey guys I just got my first jeep last night.i have been wanting one for about a year now.I would like to put a new set of tires in as my first mod and was wondering if anyone has used a 33x10.50 or does everybody get the 10 inch wide rim and run the 12.50?also what rubbing issues do you have with the 12.50s in the rear.even lifted it seems like the tire would hit the rear springs.sorry if some of this sounds dumb but I dont have any exp.with jeeps.thanks for any help.

there are plenty of guys that run 33x10.50s. my neighbor does. and you can also run 12.50's on a 8'' wide tire and that will help hold the bead a bit better if you were to ever air down.
next, when you go up to a wider tire, you have to set the centerline of the wheel farther away from the jeep(usually done with wheels with less backspacing), but you can use wheel spacers. but anyways, that's what keeps the tires from rubbing on your stuffs. hth. and don't be afraid to ask anything. we've got some great guys around here.

I am running 33/10.50/15 BFG ATs on 8" Cragaer soft 8 wheels. They clear pretty well with a 2" budget boost and 1 1/4" body lift. They LOOK a little skinny compared to what others running. But I think they will put less stress on your axles than the 12 1/2" wide 33s. A little less weight and traction equals less axel breaks if you are running D35 rear and D30 front like I am.

I do a lot of trail riding, and have been really happy with the backspaced Mickey Thompson 10" wheels. My tires stick out past the fenders, and are the first thing to hit anything. That saves on a lot of damage to the body of the Jeep. I realize that is a personal thing, and only my point of view. I belong to a Jeep club that has a lot of different set ups amoung the members. I have seen the results of having extended flares, and keeping the tires flush with the vehicle. Unless you like to replace flares, and don't mind scratching up your paint, the wider stance is far cheaper if you like to trail ride, and rock crawl. I also am very partial to feeling solid on the ground, not tipsy. That is also why I got rid of the front sway bar, and installed the "Anti-Rock" system by Currie.
