I have a 97 Wrangler 2.5l base that runs good but the trans 30rh is going out. I have a complete 95 4.0l with 42RE trans and NP231J transfer case from a ZJ that crashed. My question is if I transfer the entire setup from the ZJ will I have any issues I should know about? Any suggestions or special items I need to make sure I get off the ZJ before I scrap it besides the items above and the wiring harness? I appreciate the help and input!

From all that I have ever heard and read from the experts, this swap is more trouble than it will ever be worth, and you are far better selling your TJ and buying one with the 4.0.There are multitudes of obstacles, like frame differences, etc. There was a great article in jP Magazine earlier this year that outlined all the problems/difficulties involved. They have a great archive on their website. You might want to check it out.

Talked with the Emissions Gods

Found out that I cannot swap a 95 motor into a 97 jeep because they are different in the ODBI vs ODBII. I think I am going to take your suggestion and swap out the trans and sell this one and move up to a sport with the 6 cylinder. Way too much work and grief at this point with the emission gods watching over everything in my part of the country. Thanks for the info.
