I have an 87 YJ with the 4.2L. My question is, does the pcv valve go in the front by the radiator or back of valve cover by the firewall? Or does it matter. I am replacing the hoses and pcv valve tomorrow and want to make sure the previous owner had the pcv and breathers in the correct holes. Thank you in advance for your time.

Mines always been in the front of the valve cover. I don't believe it matters much as long as it is connected to the port on the carb. The other is a vent which is routed to the air cleaner.

all these answers are correct it is in the front from the factory but if you are putting a new carb on it and new air filter you can move it to th back and save some hose length to run it to the carb.

just make sure the inside diameter of your hose and carb connection are 3/8 in diameter otherwise you may not have enough airflow.
