I have lost my owners manual many years ago but have always wondered these two questions. I have a 1995 Wrangler, auto transmission, with a 4 banger.

1. Is there a right and wrong way to engage the 4 wheel drive? I know how I do it just wasn't sure if there was a specific way???

2. What's the top speed while in 4x4?

Ohio winters can be nasty from time to time. Just want to make sure I'm on top of things. Thanks guys!!!!!:)

Ps. Just purchased some Wrangler Duratrac tires. 5 of them of course. Best buy since I've had the jeep!

1. to go into 4h you just have to be going slower than 25mph and 4L less than 5mph
dont do it on pavement where you have traction.
2. i've done 55 on icy roads and it was fine. Start out slow. be careful.

shifting into 4H can usually be up to 45-50 without any problem, just let off of the gas first

4L should be at a crawl

Thanks guys. Someone was telling me the other day I needed to be at a dead stop to put engage the 4wheel drive. And also have it in reverse. Kinda got me thinking!
