Depending on the size tarp I have found that bungee cords work well. You can hook them on the grommets on the tarp and under bumper, rock rail, etc. Just be careful if you do use the bungee cords that the hooks can't come into contact with the paint.

If you don't have any tension on the tarp from all sides then the water will just pond in the middle of the roof/jeep. Ask me how I know. It doesn't look like your setup will work with a couple ropes thrown over the top. JMO

i thought the same thing if an emergency cover up was needed... i think at harbor freight they those blue tarps go for about $7.99 each.
