The TJ money pit was not enough of a drain and a hassle for me so I went out and bought this last weekend.

According to the PO: New Exhaust, Brakes and cylinders, Tires, Dauntless engine, Overdrive, very little to no rust, Top is shot, seats are shot, 12" steering wheel, Need to replace a couple of tie rod ends. think that is about it other than cleaning it up.

You can tell the body has a bit of plastic in it bit it aint gonna be a show Jeep anyway. :)

The biggest issue right now is fitting me between the seat and the steering wheel. I have owned a CJ2A, CJ3B, M38 and M38A1 and managed to get them so I was comfortable. Now if I can just remember what I did.

I am not sure what I am going to do with that mass of stuff bolted to the tailgate making it inoperable, but will figure something out.

A few weekends work and then off to the cabin.

I made some headway today. Got the new top put on and got rid of the horrible spare tire rack on the back. only 100000 more things to do LOL:

New tires installed. The ones that came on it had great tread but were 14 years old and the side walls were dry rotted. Seats upholstered, windshield replaced, inside cleaned up, heater fixed, Wheel wells painted, Winch installed, lots of thing done and lots more to do. I am kind of having fun with this one.

The seats have now been moved back about 3 inches, Disk brakes installed up front, Custom spare tire rack completed, Dash lights and Fuel gauge now working.

My latest puzzlement is that the temp gauge worked perfectly when I took it into the shop and now it goes from cold to being pegged on hot in a matter of about 30 seconds from when I start the engine. I replaced the sender and it acts the same. Something may have gotten bumped, tweeked, ?? when he had the speedometer out fixing the lights and fuel gauge. Or maybe it was just that gauges time to go TU. Any ideas would be welcome.

DOH! just proof reading this it dawned on me that the problem with the temp gauge must be a path to ground on the wire between the sender and the gauge. The sender is new and the Gauge is working so that is all it could be.

Thank you all for trouble shooting my issue  I will Ohm out the wire just to make sure and then go ahead and run a new wire. NO way I am touching the harness or putting a whole new one in.

BTW: I even took my buffer to it yesterday and there are a couple a sq inches now that actually have shiny paint again. Picture of the hood.

YES it is a very crappy video with the tow bar sticking up there LOL: But I was just experimenting with my phone.

I did fix the clutch squeak after this jaunt. It was just the pedal shaft rubbing on the body when fully depressed.
