First of all forgive me because I had forgotten how much rust you have on your Jeep. I think if someone were to repaint it and do ALL of the necessary body work and rust repair for $ 700 then that would be a steal. As a matter of fact it almost sounds too good to be true. I'm not knocking the guy, his price or his work but I've always believed that you get what you pay for (in
most cases).
Resale value in your situtation? It probably wouldn't hurt you as much knowing that you need to do something to it before the cancer spreads.
what if you were to re-paint your jeep the same color wou that lower your resale value
Think about it this way - If you took your vehicle (Jeep or whatever) down to the local dealership to trade it in and they found out it had been repainted the first thing out of their mouth will be "What the hell happened to it to need a complete paint job?" The same thing will apply if you're selling it to an individual too. That vehicle will always have a story attached to it and it will always leave the next guy wondering what
really happened to it.
Basically if I had my choice between buying two EXACT Jeeps on a used car lot (same everything - miles, color and equipment etc) and one was a
complete repaint and the other still had the original factory paint, I'd buy the one with the original paint everytime. So would the majority of the buying public. Mainly due to the fact that the one with the original paint doesn't have a "story" attached to it that they'll have to explain to the next guy. Make sense?
Which one of the two would you buy?
Same color paint? Repaint is a repaint. The color doesn't matter.
