OK -- if my thread on color matching an 11 yo vehicle wasn't bad enough ---- this one will surely get me labelled as the poseur dujour :wavey:

I grew up in the 80's and used to think all the CJ-7 packages were trick as hell. Golden Hawk, Laredo, Renegade, a couple of others i'm sure ---

HAs anyone tried one of these vintage repro decal kits on their TJ , and if so --- anyone have a link?

Not wanting to create a clone per se' ---- but a homage to all that 70's wildness maybe

Poseur dejour HAHA i like that..... anyhow. I like the idea and am planning on pretending i have a golden eagle as an ode to one of my faves. Those who don't like the idea doesn't have to look at it, and can just stay in "look at me i conform-ville" although it's hard to conform to anything in a jeep,,, part of their beauty:D

Golden Eagle decals

Scroll about halfway down there's a pic of a Black TJ golden eagle

I don't consider it a clone/poser to put retro type decals on a newer model. I've seen it done a lot withing the Mustang world and look ant the newer stang, challanger, camaro etc with retro looks and decal packages. I've seen plenty of TJs with the big wrangler decal on the hood. I say go for it.

I've seen a Golden Eagle sticker package and tire cover on a black TJ. No pictures though.

It looked good

Oh and thanks for the link. :wavey:

I have an 06 Golden Eagle. It's funny how many looks it gets. I think alot of people think I just put decals on my TJ. The gold rims are a dead giveaway for a true Golden Eagle. I like the original Golden Eagle decals better.

This yellow is full tilt boogie -- reminds me of the Bob "Hurricane" Hannah era Yamaha YZ's (mid 70's to 1984 if your a dirt bike fan)- although the jeep in the photog. is much brighter than Solar Yellow

I may try it -- but since i have nervous fingers and am impatient, i may enlist the services of a shop to help me install them. I figure anybody who does window tint and similar things can probably work their way through a decal install ---- the kit is a bit expensive to come out with air bubbles and creases (which it would if i did it myself)

Here are some others straight from the Golden Eagle website that might possibly work with yellow ---

Yep, I just dug up a 6 year old thread....:tomatoes:

Sitting here looking at pics of the Jeep I bought three weeks ago (because it's still sitting at the dealership waiting on a backordered part to fix the gauge cluster)
Anyhow...at 44 yrs old I grew up in the 80's where flashy decals were the norm on many specialty vehicles. In 1980 my dad purchased a new CJ5 and I remember reading the factory brochure over and over just staring at the pictures of the Renegades & Laredo's.
This got me thinking.... I would love to add the original "old school" decals to my TJ as a tribute to good ole days. What do you guys & gals think?

I really dig that Renegade body stripe.
Zone 3inch lift and 285's are next BTW.

My first Jeep was an '85 CJ-7. I would definitely rock those old decals. I'm pretty tired of seeing "Rubicon" (and variations) on the side - "Renegade" would be a nice change.

Yes me too....

I thought about the orange decals for a minute, but the silver is much sexier...

More Jeep porn... :awesome:
Considering the TJ and CJ-7 have a .1" difference in wheelbase, I'm pretty sure these decals would actually work pretty well on a TJ
