My brother-inlaw has a 87 engine that's pretty good, was thinking of rebuilding it as a 94 with a 94 cam, dist., heads etc. Does anyone know if these two basic blocks are the same?

They are close ,Youll have to change all the accesories.including the water pump. timing cover ,and harmonic balancer .because the v belt componets stick out ferther than the serpentine belts .I put an 89 in a 95 learned the hard way.theres more things I had to do and Ill search my post .It was a headache but it can be done.use the 94 fly wheel also for timming to correct.94 motor mounts. the oil pans are not compatable

Sounds like more of a hassle than its worth. Think I'll just find a junked 94 engine in junkyard and rebuild it...thanks
