So two weeks ago I started hearing this knocking noise coming from my jeep when I would be idoling in first or second gear. I wasn't to sure of what it was. Then the brake light came on while I was driving one day. Finally while driving at about 35 mph there was a sort of bang and now there is a constant noise. It kind of sounds like the rear brakes are stuck. But sometimes it makes a different kind of noise that sounds real bad. Any ideas on what it can be? My plan is to start by taking apart the rear drum.

That is as good as any start. I had to replace my entire brake system. Check to make sure part of your brake pad didn't break off and get caught. Good luck.

You might want to replace the springs in the drums while you are in there...

Okay so i took apart the rear driver side brake and realized i needed a new brake cylinder. I replaced that and the springs bled the brakes and the noise is still there And the light is still on. What else do you think it would be?
