Hello everybody. This is my 99 Wrangler TJ Sport. In April I had an unfortunate accident and in a chain of events I decided to keep my baby and rebuild her to the best of my ability. I'll show you all the condition of my wrangler now and of my progression. I believe that I've gotten pretty far for my skill set as Im a beginner to the mechanical side of things.

Ill show the condition my wrangler started out in and what it turned into, along with my progression of the rebuild. I'm not going to go into crazy detail in this specific post but I will post as necessary. Many times dealing with my Jeep I end up a bit confused and not sure what step is the best or necessary. This is not because I cannot read a Hayne's manual. It is because knowing what you want to do doesn't always match up with what is in there. So please, comment and give your opinion! Learn me with the old knowledge stick of Jeepers. So anyways, enjoy!:punk:

Photos of the damage

Here are photos of the damage to specific parts of my vehicle. My right quarter panel was crumpled and the left was scraped. My axle was bent and ripped out from the lower control arm. The top was simply bent. The hood was slightly bent inward and The windshield was completely bent the glass broken through from top to bottom. The roll bar was slightly bent inward from the driver side and pushed over. One of the wheels was bent and there's a scrape on the rear left of the tub. Also, both airbags deployed.

Rear axle drop for new gearing.

Im now trying to drop the rear axle in order to take it to my mechanics house where he will be doing the work on it. I wish I could do it myself however like I said I just don't have the time right now or the tools. So that what I have to work with lol. I've got the new rough country long arm 6" suspension and the new Dana 44 with ARB locker will be here tomorrow. Here are some pictures of what I'm stuck on, some of them are of the drum brake assembly and some of the brake line route. My problem is that I don't know where I should disconnect the brake line. The front right brake line snapped as well so that needs replaced.

I just realized that I may have forgot to give a list of mods that I'm dealing with. I'll start with only what I have already bought then on to my next purchases. Currently I've got a:

Metalcloak arched fender, yet to be installed
Rough Country 6" long arm, yet to be installed
Dana 44 front and rear 4.88 gearing, yet to be installed
ARB front locker, yet to be installed
K&N cold air intake
Edge chip system
Magnaflow exhaust
Hi lift with hood mount w/ 3 Rigid industries Dually Led
33x12.5x15-Selling if anyone wants them for cheap!!!
Smittybilt Rear tire carrier
smittybilt 8K winch- If I remember correctly...

Sure it's worth the rebuild price instead of a new wrangler tj? Also what is the Bar across the hood that you mounted the rigids to?

Yeah it's worth it.

This is my reasoning behind staying with this TJ. I was given 7900 from my insurance agency. Given that the frame is not bent that saves me money. All I need is body parts and I can do most of the work myself although I'm learning. This is an opportunity to upgrade my wrangler dramatically while replacing parts for better ones.

If I stick with ole Olga here, I'm going to have a Dana 44 front with ARB locker pre installed instead of a stock 30 or 35, Metalcloak arched fender flares, and a Rough country 6" long arm suspension rather than 4" short arm. Though Im going to have to slightly dip into my own pocket to finish the project, when it is finally completely done it will be able to out perform what it was before. Oh and Im planning on 37" tires instead of my current 33" but that's in the future when I have more money.

That's a hood light mount with 3 Rigid Ind. duallys.

So just as an update, I'm currently in the middle of school and work so I have very little time on my hands, and when I do I simply can't give it to the Jeep when other things need my attention more. I recently had my apartment go up in flames, due to a charcoal grill outside the apartment. So I currently own pretty much nothing and I'm spending money I was going to go to the Jeep towards replacing basic necessities.

I'll be posting more come may, when I'm out of school for the summer and it warms up. Before the summer ended, I got pretty much everything off the Jeep I needed off and started working on the lift. I got the skid plate cut and control arm mounts on but that was it.

In less than a month I'll be back on the jeep, but I'm curious, had anyone else tried to rebuild a wrecked jeep? Will I ever be able to rebuild this to a good quality vehicle? I'm just hearing a lot of people saying I should have junked it, but I'm attached and I want to put hard work into something that will turn out better than it was before.

I have now bought new air bags, clock spring, roll bar, hood, suspension system, and front axle. Can't I just replace damaged parts and pay to have fixed whatever I don't know how to do?

You sure can. As long as the frame is good, everything else is easily replaceable on a wrangler :drinks:
Frame looks good. I measured the height from the ground to multiple points on both sides of the frame and they all match. Thanks for the encouragement!

OK so I am having a very rough time getting this control arm Mount to get flush with the frame. I do not believe the frame is bent. The far right bolt in the picture is the one I cannot get flush. The center bolt broke a nusert believe brevets it will not tighten and only keeps spinning.

How should I go about pushing the control arm Mount in place? Can I replace the nutsert later so I can get this thing back on its wheels for now?
