Hey all
2017 JKU. This started last week. Hit a bump at highway speed and the AC fan shuts off. The radio will shut off sometimes also. Doesn't happen on every bump or pothole but is getting more frequent. I checked fuses and made sure they are seated. Battery cables are tight. Took it to the dealer today and of course they couldn't duplicate the problem. Told me that the blower fan and radio share the same ground and that it was tight. Any ideas?

Thank you.

When running, you are running off alternator more than the battery, so I would not be looking at battery connections. I think your right in looking more at commonalities closer to the ac fan and radio.

Unfortunatly AC fan is a bugger to deal with. One may try to put a test lamp on a pair of wires to the ac motor and hang it off the dash and go for a bumpy ride to see if its power or the motor. One would think that even with a bouncy ground, the motor would run resume running once it remade contact? The light blinking on bounce would be a good indicator its electrical.

Hi Whiskey Six,

Sorry to hear you are experiencing this concern with your Wrangler. Given the findings of your dealer, you can certainly choose to visit a different local Jeep dealer for a second opinion. If you’re not familiar with any other dealers in your area, you can head to https://www.jeep.com/find-dealer.html and enter your ZIP code to find a dealer near you. If you see any dealerships that have received a Customer First award this means that this dealer has achieved the highest level of customer experience recognition in five core areas: people, facility, processes, customer metrics and training certification.

If you decide to move forward with a second opinion, I would be more than happy to escalate a case on your behalf for additional assistance. This will allow us to connect you with a Case Specialist who can work alongside your dealer to find a potential solution. Just let us know how you plan to proceed.
