Just wondering if the following is normal and What, if anything, Could be done to make it colder..

It could be the weather, and me just thinking that AC needs to have turbo mode, But it's been a whopping 102-2104 here the past five days. While my air conditioning on full blast feels somewhat cool, it just doesn't feel "powerful" enough... And when I step out of my vehicle, it is so loud under the hood. Just a high revving engine sound.... When I shut the AC off, naturally this goes away. I take it this is normal, but feel bad because I'm wondering if my sunshine isn't overheating or something..... I have to look through my manual, just to see if there is anything that I should be doing to the unit at 156,000 miles, that I do not know about....

I also posted a thread in regards to when I'm at a standstill, I feel as though that jeep wants to stall With the constant flutter, but none of the needles are jumping...... I just had the cats all completely Replaced and gave her a tuneup And it seems after that is when it got a bit worse. So it's going back Monday for a check up. But I noticed that it seems even worse (not that much) when the AC is on...

I'm going to invent something where the AC blasts out of the overhead speakers, because I feel so bad for DD Smothering herself and her own sweat even with the AC constantly running...

Any ideas or is this normal.

Keep in mind that any air-conditioner can only remove a set amount of heat. As they get older they loose efficiency and can remove even less heat. If you put your fan on high and the air is 100 deg then the A/C might cool it down to 75deg. You are asking it to cool way more air then it has capacity for so it only removes some of the heat. Drop the fan speed down a notch (less air but still the same amount of cooling capacity) and the air might come out at 65 deg. The lower the fan speed the colder the discharge air, until it reaches a certain cutoff temperature and then the A/C starts to cycle on and off to keep the condenser coils from freezing.

So start with a high or max fan speed and then turn it down a notch as soon as you dare and eventually you should be able to get to the low setting and have ice cold air being discharged and be quite comfortable.

My 13' JKU's AC is great. Strong blower and is ice cold. The OP's unit may need to be recharged...

Also remember to open all windows an inch and blast the AC for a minute, letting the hot air escape (hot air rises), then your drivers window only until the hot air disappears, then close it ;)

With that much mileage it might be time for an AC recharge. Are you recirculating with the AC on? That might help some.

My 13 is frosty cold. Its actually one of the best ac I have ever had in any vehicle.

X 2 on this... Purchased my 13' in December and was worried about keeping cool during the summer in South Louisiana with a black soft-top. No problems at all, amazed actually...

It was 95 with 60% humidity (humidex of 118) yesterday, for here that's hot... Was 100-102 for a few days last summer. Nothing wrong with the AC, if it's working properly. Was room temp in my black JKU yesterday.

All you guys down south think we live in igloos...
