How to check for a bad clock spring? I went over a frost heave yesterday and it caused my airbag light to turn on. I did a OBD scan with a reader and the key ignition code scan thing and neither came back with any error codes. Doing some research it seems it could be a clock spring in the steering wheel. Any way to diagnose this? All the hits I saw for this bad clockspring were from 07-11s, nothing newer than that.

Since this seemed to happen after you went over the frost mound there might be a problem with one of the Impact (air bag) sensors. There are two in the area of the front radiator support. There are also side impact sensors on each B pillar behind the interior trim. The side sensors are probably fine. You might have damaged one of the front sensors. That's not to say there isn't a problem with the clockspring.
