I've researched this and found several others that have had the same problem, but I can't find a solution. Hoping someone out there can help!

87 YJ 4.2l I6, nuttered, running a motorcraft carb.

Got oil puking up from the dip stick.

Running a manual oil pressure gauge. Checked the PCV valve and it is good, rattles and has good vacuum, CCV valve is running to a port on the carb to the breather and it is clear also. Compression is good on all the cylinders.

Recently replaced the oil pump due to low oil pressure. According to the dipstick, I'm a quart low on oil, but it's still coming up through the dip stick.

What am I missing, and what can I check next???

Hello , Well I am running about the same set up 4.2, .30 over rv cam, milled head. Nuttered and running motorcraft 2100 carb .Recent rebuild and only 5,000 miles on engine I Finally ran another pcv valve into the other hole in the valve cover. So I have a pcv valve in the front hole, and I put a tee in the back pcv hose and ran the front pcv hose into it. It has done the trick so Far. Everyone I have talked to have said it is probably something wrong with the rings, But with such good compression it does not make sense. One guy also mentioned that maybe the oil pick-up tube loosened up or a seal in the pump is leaking and squirting extra pressure into oil pan. I will be checking that tomorrow. Let me know how it goes and I used 3/8 tubing which should be the correct size for the pcv line Goodluck

I had serious oil blowback coming from the valve cover vent that feeds from the rear hole in the valve cover to the carb and it turns out it was my timing. Once I set it the blowback stopped. Dunno if that will help you or not but it's worth a look.

Sorry for the lack of new info on this problem! I've been out of town and have not been able to spend much time on the Jeep.

So far I've switched the vacuum on the PCV valve to get stronger suction, and actually replaced the oil pan gasket again as it was leaking up front. I thought this had solved the problem but after a quick ride in the mud yesterday I was greeted with an oily starter. I zip tied a paper towel to the dip stick tube to try to be sure that's where the oil was coming from, and it was soaked. This is much too high up to be coming from anywhere else.

I will try the timing adjustment this week to see if that helps.

Any other suggestions? My oil pressure has been running between 30 & about 55...
