i have a 2011 jku with 286/75/16's and am looking to see how much fender gap is left with the 285's on a 3 inch lift. i like the zone 3 inch kit but dont wanna make the jeep look crazy with tons of fender gap, installed some side steps today and it make my keep look even lower so im dieing to bring it up some. thx jason
I've got 315/75R16's with a 3" lift on mine...but at the PSI I'm running them they're just a little over 34". About 1-1/2 difference from your 285's. Also, don't know what kinda fenders you have, but mine are flatties so they'll make my fender gap look a little more pronounced.

Just something to snack on till the peeps with 285's and 3" lifts show up.

ive just got the factory style fenders but feel like no lift with 285's looks a biyt funny and a 2 inch doesnt seem like enough, i know i could go 2.5 but price jumps way up and at that price i could do the 3 inch lol.
People often think that extra 1/2" of lift is fairly inexpensive, but that ain't the case. Some points to consider:

With the 2.5", you can buy something like the TeraFlex or Rock Krawler kits and not have to worry about adjustable control arms (for setting caster) and adjustable trackbars (for centering axle). A lot of folks on the forum buy the 2.5" kits for just that reason, and then drive it for awhile to see how it handles. If it needs some fine tuning, they might buy a pair of lower ca's to fix their caster...a fairly small expense. Total cost (w/out the ca's): +/– $700.

For a 3" lift, you're automatically getting into the realm of more $$. Mine came with both front and rear adj ca's and tb's. I also had to buy a new driveshaft (which can happen for a # of different reasons...in your case a 3" lift is gonna create too much of an angle for your ds to last very long). Total cost: $2,000.

Something to think about.

hmm i dont do much offroading other them to a hunt camp, the lift is mostly for sheer looks and to get my buds to quit tellin me it needs a lift cause it doesnt look right lol. i want a lil bit of a lift outa it also for my own happiness.
I'd go with the 2.5" lift, just for the reasons you stated above. Your buds aren't the ones that gotta open their wallets.

Besides, your stock Jeep will kick the crap outta any 4x's they got. :D

Ask kjeeper10 (above). I believe he's buying (or has bought) a TF 2.5" coil lift with shocks.

vecter11, read through the post below. Another member was in the same quandary you currently find yourself in...

Ultimately, the decision is yours. Just make sure you're fully aware of what you're getting yourself into when lifting your Jeep, or your wallet might spontaneously combust. :D

Need advice on 35" Tire/Wheel Pkg
