I think this open air design is what allows the increase engine intake sound and where claimed hp increases come from (reduced restrictions). Adding covers and baffles to protect filter would be just building your way back towards stock.
you can shop around for those "hydroshield" covers. I had them on my lowered RSX because the CAI was placed pretty low and there was a risk of sucking up a lot of water when it rains. worked fine and didnt really restrict airflow that much.
