I'm bummed it's so much bigger than I thought. The wheelbase is an inch longer than an Excursion's and it is only 9" shorter than one.

Just as an observation, I compared these measurements to an H3T and the Gladiator is a bit bigger in length, width, height and wheelbase but not really by a few inches each way so this should give a little bit of a reference to what one will look like in real life.

Wow. For additional visual references the Gladiator is 6 inches longer than a 2018 Tacoma. And the same length as my old 2005 Tundra.

Just measured my garage. At 224" I'll have just enough room. :bop:

Does anyone know anything about price, or is it one of those answers "If you have to ask, you can't afford one?
Jeep hasn't released pricing, yet. Look at the current crop of JLs, and use that as your guide...figure the truck will be 10 to 20 percent more expensive.

I saw it at the phily auto show, it's a freaking bus! The wheels are so far apart from front to back, I would think it should not handle anything like a wrangler.

Agreed, the wheelbase is longer than I thought it would be. The wheelbase is actually longer on this than a Supercab Raptor. Raptor 134.2 vs Gladiator 137.3, and the overall length is only 2" shorter, 218" gladiator vs 220" Raptor. That's why I think this should come with 35s stock, at least on the Rubicon trim.

For the money just buy the Raptor. This will be such a turd for FCA, and if it's not there will be a whole bunch of morons.

Or, people who like the idea of a small truck, but still want to take the top and doors off like a Jeep?

Is it really a small/mid-size truck? If you compare its dimensions to a Taco, Colorado, or a Ranger, it is bigger in just about every area. The dimensions on this are closer to a Supercab Raptor than they are to a mid-size truck. The only area the Raptor is significantly larger is the overall width.

Overall length Ranger 210.8
Overall height Ranger 71.8 4x4
Wheelbase Ranger 126.8
Width Ranger 77.8

Overall length ZR2 212.7
Overall height ZR2 72.2
Wheelbase ZR2 128.5
Width ZR2 76.7

Overall length Taco TRD Pro 212.3
Overall height Taco TRD Pro 71.6
Wheelbase Taco TRD Pro 127.4
Width Taco TRD Pro 75.2

Overall length Gladiator 218
Overall height Gladiator 76.1 Rubicon Soft top
Wheelbase Gladiator 137.3
Width Gladiator 73.8

Overall length Supercab Raptor 220
Overall height Supercab Raptor 78.5
Wheelbase Supercab Raptor 134.2
Width 86.3

Don't get me wrong I think this will be a cool truck, but based on its dimensions the reality is, this thing will be big, at least when compared to the other mid-size trucks. You start adding lifts and bigger tires the height and width differences between the Raptor and the Gladiator start to shrink even more. I personally am looking forward to seeing one in person. I could even see myself buying one some day. :thumb:

My Jeep J10:

Overall length: 204.5
Overall height: 69.1
Wheelbase long bed* 130.7"
Width 78.9"

* There were only regular cab trucks from the factory in the SJ (Gladiator and J10) era with only long and short beds as the options.

The new Gladiator is smaller in every dimension except overall width and bed length. And it had a 5,000 pound tow rating. In almost every respect, the old generation 1/2 ton Gladiator is smaller.

"Compact" trucks these days aren't very compact any more.

Interesting that the Gladiator is longer and taller than the other "little guys"- Ranger/ZR2/Taco, but also the narrowest of the group.
