I understand that tis isn't a popular choice, but I want to move up to 35's from my 33 KO's, and was all set on KO2's, but when it is wet , raining, my Rubicon slides a lot. I am not driving fast when this happens. I would have to go slower than traffic is flowing to stop it. It's mostly happening in Jersey traffic circles. I am considering a more street friendly tire as I really don't go off road. Snow could be an issue at times. Anyone running a non all terrain on there JL?

Check out something like the Cooper ATP. They are rated very high in wet performance...

Also the Hankook Dynapro AT2 is a very street focused AT with excellent wet performance.

I wouldn't put anything less than an A/T on a Jeep...

Your desire to move to a 35 will probably make the sliding in the wet worse not better as the 35's are wider and stiffer as most are load range D or E. They are not going to conform as easily to the small irregularities in the pavement. I would suggest fitting your Rubi with tires that are the best for your use. I would look for tires with a silica tread compound as these have proven to be much better in the wet traction department. For example the Cooper AT3 4S comes in P285/70R17, same size as your current tires and has a silica tread compound. It is still and AT but a mild one compared to others. I have run AT3's and KO2's on previous rigs and the AT3's and were noticeably better in the wet and just about equal to the KO2's off road. Neither was very good in mud. Also what tire pressure are you running in the KO2's? I think the factory spec is 37psi, try lowering to 30-32psi. Sometimes a few psi can make a big difference.

Thanks for your replies. The Cooper may be the way to go. Some of these tires are E rates, which we seem to be told to stay away from. I will check them out! I do want 35's.

Why not look for some factory takeoff SR-A? Probably get them for practically nothing and they are a road tire.

OP, what's your normal, everyday, cold tire pressure?

IME, tires over stock size should not be aired up to the recommended pressure on the placard/sticker on the Jeep, and especially not to the "max pressure" listed on the tire sidewall. My 33 x 10.5 tires, unloaded Jeep (TJ), are aired to about 27/28 psi; they handle well on the road, and are wearing well to boot (>20K). Even loaded, I rarely exceed 31 psi on a road trip.

BTW, I'm rolling KO2s. YMMV, and invariably will...

SRA are probably to small for a Rubi. I have checked out some Conti's on line. They are less aggressive. Wildpeaks seem to get good review. They have silica something that aids in wet traction that the KO2 doesn't list. My KO2's are at 33 front and 30 rear. I may try 31 front. My jeep tracks perfectly. I have slowed down more in rain as well.
