I have everything wired except to the battery. However there is no room on the terminals to connect the winch positive and negatives. I don't want to cut the current terminal attachments because they are in good shape with no corrosion. Is there and item I can slip under the terminal connection and then connect my winch to that attachment?

I don't think you want anything between the battery and your cables. I attached my winch to a side stud that was on the battery terminal. I guess you don't have any side studs, right?

Don't attach to side posts, they will melt. Marine terminals have wing nuts on top if you decided on swapping over

I may have misquoted the part used. Here is a pic of my Rubicon X terminals and they look like the ones available from Quadratec:

Your pic there on the side looks like you have a late model JK Jeep. Does your battery leads look like or similar to my stock ones on my 2014 JK Rubicon X in the pic below just like SteedGuns factory clamps in his reply? Most modern Jeep leads have several other things bolted to them on top and these additional hook ups can be used. If you do not have these you will need as mentioned by others a good heavy duty battery clamp with additional hook ups for all your leads.

My winch came with an inline safety breaker (bolted to the factory positive) you can see it on the positive lead. The ground is bolted right to the additional stud that was on the factory leads clamp at the battery.

Best of luck on your project, :)

Got it to work thanks guys. Next question is why is the shaft on my winch burning to the touch?
More info please. What brand and model winch? Burning after long winching or just heated up with light winching or just heated up (that would be real bad)?

Smittybilt x20 8000, was spooling the line up. Would this cause the hot sensation on the shaft? It so hot that you can't touch it
