...from Summerlin?

It looks like construction might allow passage right now from the end of Summerlin Pkwy or Lake Mead BLVD via Willow Spring to Prospect Springs. Has anyone gone that way? Anyone interested tomorrow, Friday July 24 or the weekend? Especially very early before the noonday sun?

Also, on an old topographical map it shows Stardust International Raceway way south of Blue Diamond Rd. Does anyone know anything about it?

Old maps also show a raceway park almost to Henderson east of Boulder Hwy just east of Joker's Wild casino. Can anyone tell us about it?

I was born in LV and not familiar with the passage or a racetrack south of Blue Diamond but vaguely recall one in Henderson. Regardless, I am up for some exploring. Saturdays work best for me, just not this Saturday as I already have plans.

Keep the thread going and you will get some takers.

I like to view new explorations on Google earth first and the take the imagery with me on my tablet.

We Did It!

"Back" (front?) way to Kyle Canyon, just the winch and I.

There are 2 or 3 Gnarley spots. My first tailpipe dent.

With construction going on there are some real opportunities that might dry up. I can't find any sign that it's illegal to BE there, there's just usually zero access to GET there. Right now you can enter from the far west end of Charleston. Not long ago you could access from the end of Summerlin Pkwy with just one curb hop, but now it looks better blocked off. For sure if you come in from the Kyle Canyon side there are no signs or road blocks.

Similar story the "back" (front?) way through Gass Pass. If you go from Mormon Well Road you can go through ALMOST to 215 without seeing any signs facing you, or gates. Right now there is at least one break in the freeway fence at the construction between Lamb & N 5th. It takes a little exploring to do the between part, but not technically challenging. I did use the wench once but I wasn't actually stuck yet, just taking a short cut.
There's a large restoration area surrounded by an impenetrable cable barricade that has to be circumnavigated, but there are no signs it's not okay to BE there.
It seems to be a patchwork of city and federal tracts of preservation, restoration, and Air Force areas. The official story is that no vehicles are allowed due to silicate dust hazards to us trailsters. The real story is that the land rapers couldn't sell houses in a dust bowl so they got Big Government to keep out the fun seekers from making dust.

Neither trail has breathtaking scenery, but these are opportunities that may not present themselves again.

If anybody goes anywhere for sure, how about starting a thread at the root of the Nevada area instead burying it in the chitchat thread? Personally, I think the whole Nevada area is for chit chat, with separate threads for separate topics, but that's just me.

I sold hot dogs during one race season at the old Stardust Drag Strip, I am just young enough to know about the Henderson Drag Strip that was along Boulder Highway in Pitman. My cousins raced all three local tracks back in the day Henderson, Craig road, and Stardust.
