I have a noise that sounds like a bad bearing in my transmission.
The noise happens ONLY when in gear.
No noise in First gear.
Starts in 2nd and sounds like its spooling up.
3rd, 4th and 5th have the bad bearing sound.
When I press in the clutch the noise goes away. Let off the clutch.. noise.

Can anyone identify this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Then its probably the input shaft bearing thats in your transmission. Did you check your oil level?

Thanks TJ-Q8!
Checked oil level in transmission.. it was about a pint (250 ml) low.
Filled it up and drove it down the road.
I noticed the bearing noise was reduced but still present.

As this is now beyond my skill I shall be taking it to the shop.
Was quoted $800 to replace all bearings and inspect gears, or $1000 to replace transmission.

Iam exactly in tge same boat you are but a little bearing noise is fine. I plan on spending my money on other stuff and then after a while onthe transmission. If it will go very bad youl hear it definetly.
