I'm looking at investing in an OBD2 scanner/code reader for my 2013. I want to know what's going on BEFORE I take it in for service. I also want to clear the codes.

With that said, I have an old Actron for my 1991 Jeep... I have the Jeep factory service manual to interpret the factory codes..

So what's the best device? I want a unit that is CAN (controller area network) compliant.

All opinions and technological advancements welcomed...

I've had excellent service from Auto-xray brand in the past. Real time monitoring, capture mode, and see/clear codes. Even pending codes.

The INNOVA 31703 looks like a great scanner/reader and it seems priced right on Amazon. But if I wanted to change any of the factory presets in the DIC or change the fuel setting algorithms, what is the best programming module to get and will they do all the same functions of the INNOVA?
