If it's cleaned up go get some paint. Engine paint the color of the T-case. It worked great with mine.

AZ sells the primer and paint

The same cleaner used to clean aluminum wheels will remove the oxidation but it will turn it dark gray then paint it your favorite color.

Pardon my ignorance but what do you use to clean aluminum wheels? Honestly I'd love to paint it neon gloss green to match my bedliner, will a gloss paint not hold up well from the heat of the tcase? I would imagine it doesn't get hot enough but... worth asking.

It is a form of acid sold in auto parts stores and is used to clean aluminum wheels.
It will generally say not for use on clear coated wheels. I cant tell you a specific name because I get all that stuff from a auto detail supply company. If you were close to Tampa I would let you have some. I have painted engines with auto paint and haven't had a problem. Auto parts stores also have a selection of engine and heat resistant paint.
