I have them on my Jeep and my TRD Tacoma. Love them! I am thinking about a more aggressive tire on the Jeep though.

Yea I hear theyre awesome but im thinking the same, something a little more aggressive. I was thinking duratracs

I run them, they're almost bald and hanging on there, still great traction specially off-road, but I'm also going more aggressive, either cooper discoverer stt or super swampers LTBs, in 31x10.5x15 and 31x11.5x15 respectively.

I see lots of people in town with cooper tires. I personally dont think ill ever buy them, when i get a little more serious i think ill pick up for goodyear MTR's

Since you asked... my opinion of them is that they are the most over-rated tire on planet Earth. I've had them a couple of times on a couple of different rigs. For the price, there are dozens of better choices. The BFG KO tread design is about 30 years past it's prime. They are horrible in snow, horrible in mud, noisy, wear funny, have high rolling resistance, and have weak sidewalls. They are good for dry dirt...that's about it.

What type of driving? If you're never around mud much it's hard to beat the Hankook Dynapro ATM. These Goodyear Duratracs are pretty nice for trail/commuter rigs that do see mud but don't want a full mud tire.

Yea that second part is sorta what I do, I need something thatll perform year round in deep snow, harsh rain (which results in lots of mud) and very dry summers. Ive heard tons of people say that for my uses, duratracs are the way to go

The Duratracs are pretty awesome now that I've gotten a chance to run them. They are literally as quiet as any AT tire on the market, but they are nearly as aggressive as a MT. I do have to give props to Goodyear for the technology in this tread design.

i have these on my jk now, had em on several vehicles over the years. they are super quiet tires. the tread design has close, tight lugs which makes them super quiet, but crappy if you wanna mud bog all day(they get packed). this same tight tread pattern is what gives them a very low rolling resistance. i have never had a set "wear funny". they last a loooong time too. u can easily get 70,000 out of a set of these. the sidewalls are thick 3-ply and super tough. the siping gives them great wet traction. can't speak for the snow since i don't have enough experience there. i guess if you run 20psi on the streets than yeah, any tire would be noisy and have a high rolling resistance and wear funny. i'm running these between 28-30psi and they are perfect.

do more research and u will see tons of good reviews on their longevity, tough sidewalls, low rolling resistance, and excellent traction. this pattern has been around for so long beause it is a proven design. there are much more aggressive tires out there, but there are always tradeoffs. more aggressive=faster wear, more noise, more rolling resistance.

i agree with rtguy, i've had a set on my ram, and loved them got 60,000 miles and still had plenty of tread left, i sold the truck to buy a ford raptor, which has that exact tire,also have them on my 2013 jeep , i think they are an excellent tire.:thumb:

Actually, if you do a search what you'll find is a ton of pics of the tread worn funny, rubber cracking before the tread is used up, complaints of the sidewalls "ripping like hot butter" on the rocks, and humming going down the highway. The interlocked tread pattern INCREASES rolling resistance, which is why consumer reports rated them one of the least fuel efficient AT tires in it's testing. The General Grabber AT2 got knocked for the same reasons.

The only reason they are still around is because there are still fanboys buying them for the name. There are literally dozens of better tires for less money on the market today.

i don't need consumer reports to tell me how my mpg is. i'm sure consumer reports are the experts in offroad tires, right? it's ok if u don't like em'. but spewing bullshit that you have "read" that is totally false is silly. actually, that search you recommend turned up nothing but good reviews. i'm sure with that stock jku you've been all over the rocks and have experienced this hot butter sidewall...lol. enjoy your puddles and slush:flipoff:

thinking that ford put them on the raptor, and did extensive testing with that truck and tire combo,does say something being it was 50k, the truck is a beast, handles great,wet or dry, works for me!!!!

Funny you say that, because I parked next to a Raptor last week and his tires were worn REALLY bad on the inside but the outside was fine. Rears were totally worn. On a truck that's been out 18 months. Pathetic.

if i had a raptor i doubt the rear tiers would last me 20,000 would be bald for sure 425 hp be smokein then all the time as for the front the 6.2 is a heavy motor. i have had all sizes of bfgs 31's 33's and 35's and now 32's great tier if u ask me

the BFG TA KOs were on my TJ when I bought it, they were quiet, and lasted a long time, but they sucked when driving in the rain. and they get clogged up quickly when riding in the dirt/mud, and you have to air down in the sand or else they just dig in. when the time came I replaced them with GoodYear Duratracs, I'm really happy with them!! they far exceeded my expectations, they're awsome in everything in the rain, sand- (no airing down), mud. they're just as quiet on road. and they look great too. I went with the 33x12.50x15s

I have used them on my DDs since the 70s when they came out. I have also tried an occasional M/T and a couple other brands just to be sure I was not missing anything of great value . Each time I have usually gone back to what works " for me " BFG AT. I have had nothing but great results from every set , great balance , even tread wear , long life . Pay attention to air preasure and rotate like any other tire for best result naturally. Just to look at them you can tell they will not be anything great in the mud obviously so if you play in mud an M/T would be a better choice but for a DD I have no complaints just like the majority of the reviews all over the internet . Thats based on about 10-15 sets .
