Big Bear Saturday 10/27

Donbadabon and I are planning to wheel Big Bear on Saturday.

Both of us are pretty much up for anything, so post up if interested.

The only trail I don't really want to do is John Bull since that was the last run I did.

So possibilites:

1. Start at Pilot Rock 2N17X and then proceed through the Deep Creek area to Big Bear. Maybe do Dishpan if we have time

2. Gold Mountain and Holcomb

3. Holcomb and Dishpan

Those are my suggestions. Feel free to chime in, nothing is set in stone other than Jeeps will leave pavement! :D

Tentative meeting time will be 9:00 AM. Meet place will depend on which trail we're starting with and where everyone is coming from.

Well first of all there must be a mistake here....because Don was abducted by aliens shortly after the BB M&G and hasn't been heard from since...
lol. I am still here! :wavey:

I've been playing tourist driving the coast and sightseeing.

I am ready to get the tires dirty, need to get out!

Thats great Don, glad to see you back. :wavey: I cant be anymore than a maybe on Saturday. I sent Rick a PM, but the wife and I are traveling to Sac in the morning and driving back in the evening...I have to see how that goes.
me and the old man are looking at doing a run on saturday. might be big bear, but we're leaning towards doing johnson valley run. doing bullfrog and extra credit.

let us know what you guys decide on doing!
I'd be down for either jv, or bb. So if these merge into one I'm down either way.
I'd like to join you guys, but after last weekends little debacle  a front bumper and fenders are priority one and I doubt it will come together before Sat.

Have fun and see you on the flip side :thumb:

Both Don and I are pretty much up for anything. If there's a Big Bear run that might sway you in our direction, let me know what you're thinking.

I watched you Bullfrog video. How would you rate that trail compared to John Bull as far a difficulty?

What happened Stan? Hopefully nothing major.

I acquired some flat fenders, but it will probably be a few months before I catch up on funding. I'm going to try to remove my air dam tonight or tomorrow.

Nothing major. My bumper got a few more dings and in the process the fenders wanted to join in so, now they all go LOL!

I'm not sure how to transport pics sent to my email to here then you could see. I lost a bead on my front wheel too  The lighter fluid thing works great to get your bead back :thumb:
surprising you still got that air dam after the trails you've ran :D.

that whole area out in johnson valley has different section for a different drivers. on one obstacle, you can have the far left line available for stockers, the middle for medium rigs, and the furthest away for hardcore guys. So it's a variety of levels.

there are additional off shoots that are optional, like one called, extra credit, which is harder than anything on john bull. it is very short, like a 100 yard section, and you're finished.

but that little section, even with 37's and lockers, you will take damage at your doors if you're not careful, definite frame and under carriage rash...

the area has about 3-4 trails crossing paths every quarter mile or so, so it's pretty cool. you just got to be careful and take time.

we'll see how many hits your run gets and i'm going to scout interest for JV. if we get only us we'll probably tag up with you guys. anything in big bear sounds like a good time.
Cool, we'll see how it goes. I am tempted to do a JV run since who knows if/when they'll be closing it.

Yeah, the fenders always seem to find rocks sticking out from the sides.
My front and rear bumpers and scratched and dented too. Guess you can't expect plastic to hold up. Just an excuse to replace them.

I'm headed to JPi on Thursday now and it looks like the bumper and fenders will be done  Now, I just need to see where the wife wants to go...

Ok, cool! Maybe you can stick around for the run.

Hey Stan, Jesse, met u at JPi. Yeah I saw your tire situation on a pic on fb. I was just bragging about those wheels, still am, compared to seeing some bead locks leaking and tires sliding around on them. Yes I know guys bead locks allow you to air down much more but I like the system AEV has with the inner lip. Anyways was sad to see it not work on yours but I'm sure that's rare. Anyways glad your gettin some more work done at JPi and can't wait to see how it looks I'll have to swing by there this week and check out the new stuff.
Hey y'all, sorry to thread jack but what would you air down to up in big bear? I have 33 12.5 15 15x8 no beadlocks. and what about a 35? we wouldnt be doing any black diamonds for fear of body damage (HS budgets ;)) just the medium rated ones. Would 15 PSI do it?

I air down to 12 with 35's. Same when I had 33's. Seems to be perfect. Just the right amount of grip and have never had a problem. Then again, I've only done one run with the 35's so far, but got me through John Bull.
