When I bought my 2013 JKU I looked for one with the painted top as we were looking to retire somewhere where the sun shined after living in the Northwest for the majority of my life. I was tired of the clouds and rain.

Well the short version is I traded the Jeep for a Viper and now I'm looking to get a new JLU. The question I have for the Arizona members is do you regret having a black top? Is it a giant heatsink that causes the AC to work too hard, or possibly cannot cool the vehicle.

Here is a picture of my prior Jeep. In some ways I wish I still had it.

It surely dont help having a black top, but when its 116 outside nothing short of an ice truck will do the job. It would depend on where in AZ you live as well, the valleys get blazing hot, northern areas not so much. There's always a paint shop to make a change if it comes down to a colored matched hardtop.

Just order a white JLU with a white roof and white fenders. Even khaki would reflect more heat than black and you could stylize it with a military look.

Good Luck, L.M.
