The new 2011 unlim is ordered and in an effort to try to keep the top clean when it is down I was thinking or getting a boot for it. Wondering if anyone has a good experiences with a particular model? And/or is getting a boot a waste of time and money? Thanks! ~B

You can get the Smittybilt one from 4Wheel Parts for $36. I have one and think it's great. My top is down most of the summer and it helps to keep it clean. Especially if you do any off roading where there is a lot of dust. It also gives you back the storage you would normally lose in the trunk area.

They're a great idea if you wheel in, as daggo said, a dusty area. Also, I run one on the wifey mobile (Mopar- came with hers) when we go to Rausch to keep all that NASTY coal mud out of the top- yuck! :)

Otherwise, for day-to-day, they're more of a pain than they're worth. Where in NY are you, man? Mark W.

I'm in Orange County, yeah same place as the chopper guys. I basically keep the top down from May-Oct so looks like a boot is the way to go. I only keep it on in-case of rain.

I'll be moving up that way next June. How's the wheeling?

I am actually moving to West Point, NY. I know there were some firebreaks back through the training areas. However, that was back in 03.

I use the Mopar soft top boot, and I use it everytime I put the top down. Looks neat and keeps the soft top clean, especially on the trails. I also store my soft top inside the boot when I have the hard top on, to keep the soft top clean while it sits in the garage for the winter.

I was looking at getting a boot at some point -- but I'm curious about this. How does it give you storage space back, it's still in the same spot the soft top would be, right? Or do you mean if you store it in the boot, removed from the vehicle? I've never seen one in person, so I'm not too clear on it.

Anything that increases the available space back there would be a great addition. :)
