So I'm replacing my front brakes and rotors, and the bolts that hols the calipers on both stripped on me. Other side came out easy as pie. I was able to slide the calipers out and drill out what was left inside, but now I obviously need a replacement.

Figured this is the first place I'd ask... anybody know the size, and where I can find em'?

Many auto parts stores can measure the thread pitch for you and may have the bolts. Home stores may also have that size but you must be sure to get a bolt that is approved for automotive use. One of these can be readily identified by the marks on the bolt head. If it were me I'd look for grade 8 (six marks) for brakes.

If all else fails, get them here...

You May end up Installing a Helicoil in the Knucles I believe the proper size is 8mm x 1.25 pitch be sure you have the right size drill bit (Listed on the Helicoil Package) When Puting Calipers Back on to help prevent cross threading the caliper bolts put a couple of washers on 1 of the lug studs & run a lug nut down to hold the rotor in the right place.

Metric cap screws are marked with a strength value rather than grade number. Grade 8 SAE cap screws are approximately same as metric 10.9 screws. Grade 5 is metric 8.8. The 8.8 or 10.9 is marked on the screw head.

Correct and for those 8.8 should be perfectly fine. I cannot imagine 10.9 being needed.

Thanks for all the input folks. I enjoy and like what Black Magic is doing, but I don't have the time or the money atm. I just replaced my intake & exhaust manifold (I got lucky, they both cracked) my front brakes, rotors, and got some JKS Disco's. On top of that I still have to get an emissions and inspection done, and then wait for my tags till I can even take the thing out of the garage, at least legally.

Just a FYI for anybody out there looking for an answer, called up AutoZone this AM, and they have the caliper bolt repair kit, runs for $5.99 with two bolts. I figure it must be a common problem?

If the bolts are stripped as reported, the price of a knuckle is completely irrelevant.

If the knuckle was damaged, you can buy an M8 thread repair kit for way less than $50.

You can buy a coiled wire thread insert for less, that is for sure. Unfortunately, that type of insert is not recommended in through holes, and there is not a good way to lock the insert in place with high strength thread locker.

That kit you referenced does NOT include all new caliper bolts of the correct grade and length, the drill bit, Loctite 271, or Priority Mail shipping.

If you would like to compare apples to apples, use Keenserts, Timeserts, or some other solid insert that is threaded with inner and outer threads suitable for use in through holes like the knuckle has.

I have to agree. Helicoils are not great. Timeserts however are superb but a starter kit will be more pricey.
