My jeep has been really loose and I noticed the rear track bar axle bracket is completely broken off the axle. Is this something that I can fix myself? (different bracket??) Or do I have to have it cut off and a new one welded on? I have no idea so any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Brian

If the axle baracket itself is broken off then you will need to have a new one welded back on. Im sure any competent welding shop can do this for a small labor fee in about 15-25 minutes. I believe Rustys off road carries a heavy duty trac bar bracket that is made to be welded on.

My camera went fishing with me so no picture right now. It is broken on the weld and the other side of the bracket up near the tb. I think it will have to be grinded off and a new one welded on. Thanks for the info

No problem but I have it done soon. Thats a pretty important part to have intact, lol.

Well I guess some people are harder on there stuff than others. I am just tryin to give him some ideas of some brackets he could buy to have welded back on there. He's gonna need a new one anyway from the sound of it.

oh man, sorry for my bad spelling in the post before. my keyboard must hava a serious problem.

the broken TB brackets in my friends XY are the reason why i woun´t install the bracket that comes with my OME lift. i will wait and install some JKS adjustable brackets some time later when there is enough for them

find a friend with a good assortment of tools, a welder, and the knowledge to competently weld.

1 disconnect your battery
2 chalk your front tires
3 raise and support the rear of your jeep's frame as high as the jackstands will allow (creates more working room for the repair on the axle)
4 unbolt the rear trackbar from the bracket (the end that is busted from the axle)
5 clean up the bracket and axle where they will be getting rewelded together
6 weld them up exactly as it was before taking care to keep the axletubes as cool as possible (weld in spurts if necessary)
7 once cooled, shoot it up well with a primer to keep it from rusting
8 lower the jeep's frame down again until resting on it's own weight atop the springs
9 using a ratcheting cargo strap as required, pull the axle and frame back into alignment so you can reinstall the trackbar
10 reconnect your battery
11 admire you and your friend's handywork while splitting the 12-pack you brought him for his welding skills

Thanks for the replies, I called a 4x4 shop and am going to have them fix it for me. This is my third wrangler and first time this has happened, guess jumping must have been the cause. Thanks again...

Oh, and yeah Jumping will more than likely do that everytime. :D

Haha...jumping? Id never take all four wheels of my TJ off the ground at once. Thats just me though.
