About 1600 miles on my new 2013 JKU hardtop w/ auto, 255/75/17 stock tires and 3.21 gears.

Just ran a 400 mile tank of mixed driving (no interstate) making round trips around my county. It was mostly easy driving but I am still doing some periodic WOT and high load for break in (and fun).

EVIC said 21.7 and my calculations showed 21.96 MPG.

:punk:

I am really stoked about that! Almost hard to believe. My last Wrangler (4 banger) got about 15 stock and on small tires, and my last CJ5 (AMC 304) stock on 31s averaged about 11.

One of the reasons I have been without a Jeep for the last 15 years or so.... Didn't want another gas bill like those in my daily driver.

And this new one goes pretty good too!

This has been the case since the first JK in 2006. Especially with 3.21 gears. Mine with 4.1 gears and the extra weight of a Rubicon Unlimited gets 18 in average driving around town. Has since it was new.

You guys are lucky. My 2013 Sport JKU with 3.73s gets about 15 MPG around town, and about 18 highway.

I've found with mine that speed is what kills the MPG. If I keep 60 below I do pretty good, the closer to 70 it begins to tank. Sadly the old 55MPH is just about optimal for getting good MPG.

2013 JKU 3.21 stock tires and only get about 17 combined. Highest I have had was hwy at 20.1. I did tow my boat and got 14. I will take that over my old F150 that gave me 8.

This sounds more like my mileage. I guess we got stuck with especially thirsty rigs.

That said, I live in a rural, wooded area of Connecticut with old, winding roads and lots of hills. So "around town" for me might not be as efficient as "around town" in, say, Iowa.

I just got back from a 600 mile round trip vacation towing 3000 lbs behind it in a covered utility trailer. I got 14 mpg. With the same trailer I have gotten as little as 10 mpg on a trip in the mountains. But average...18 in town. I've been happy with that.

same rig and usually same results. I did get my worst tankful ever (not counting actual offroading) on Friday. I drove 80-85mph from 3000 feet to over 5000 feet for ~210 miles and was just a hair under 15mpg.

Heh, I average 17-19 with my 4.10 gears in my JKU (stock, no lift/wheel/tire mods). My job is 5 miles from work and I go home for lunch a lot, so that is a good amount of stop/go/lights within a very little distance, which eats up gas mileage.

For a week or so on a Yellowstone and Mount Rushmore trip I maxed out at 23.3 mpg.

Your 4 banger got 15? Heh, my 2-3" lifted TJ on 33s, with 3.73 gears gets 16-18 mpg.

Just do not understand how you guys are getting that kind of mileage, 2012 JKU stock 3.21 and I got 14.8 last week, the week before I took a 200 mile round trip, all hwy, got 16.9. I am not a slow driver but I do not punch it at every light either... I have a lift, 35's, bumpers and gears on order, god knows what I will get with that installed. Either I got a lemon on the gas mileage or you guys are driving like you are in the geriatric unit.... LOL
