I'm in dire need of help for my stereo. I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with the Infinity stereo system. I just had Best Buy install Polk Audio DXI651 for both my Fronts & Roll Bar speakers, they replaced my factory sub with the Rockford Punch P3SD48, and installed the Kenwood Excelon X700-5 to my factory deck. I was completely disappointed with the sound, mainly the bass from the sub or the lack of bass from the sub. I put my ear up to the enclosure and you could barely hear anything from it. The installer claim that this was due to still using the factory deck. I'm not buying this though. 300 Watts RMS going to this sub should really be moving this woofer. Any ideas???

I see a couple things here...
When they installed the sub, did they just pop it into the factory sub location? or did they add a box made for this sub?

It is possible that they mis-wired the sub and did it is series and not in parallel. You want a final impedance of 2 ohm and not 8. If they did it in series you would be getting very little power to them. Check the wires and see if they wired it like this (How to Wire a Dual 4 ohm Subwoofer to a 2 ohm Final Impedance | Car Audio 101 - YouTube)

The other thing they MIGHT have done is used the midrange wires for the sub and not the sub wire. I would ask them what exactly they did and to double check it. I am not as familiar with the infinity version (I have a 2012 Alpine unit), but with mine you don't get much bass out of the mid speakers.

The last thing that might be doing this is if they have the gains on the amp turned WAY down. Look at your amp and see where the gains are set, especially the one for the sub.

The one thing it is NOT is your head unit, I have the same head unit and get more bass than I can listen to... infact I cannot turn up the system because it hurts my ears too much, I actually have to leave the vehicle to turn it up past 20 (I REALLY need to re-set my gain levels so this is not a problem). here is my setup, using the stock HU like you are doing (http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/the-beginning-of-my-audio-build-353434.html)

Good luck

The installer is supposed to be calling me this afternoon, I'll ask him these questions and I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the input.
