2001 TJ with a 4.0 has 2 mini cats. The third one in the tailpipe in front of the muffler is that a catalytic converter or is it a resignater has no O2 sensor. Cannot figure why they would have a catalytic converter and no O2 sensor. Looking at replacing exhaust in just wondering what I needed to buy

There are no sensors or anything ecu related monitoring that so no issues removing it. She runs like a champ.

okay so I can leave it off when I hang a new exhaust that's fine but still I would like to know is that a catalytic converter or is it just a resonater

So if I remove it or just Hollow it out what difference will it make to my motor will it be louder is there any difference in performance?

Also I bought new oxygen sensors in ntk, four different numbers can any one tell me what number goes where

The final cat, although not monitored, does reduce engine exhaust noise.


It's a personal and financial decision whether to replace it.

It's against federal regulations to operate a vehicle on public roads with a removed cat.
