Been there, done that. The best is the looks from other drivers when you are driving that way in the rain.

We got caught in the rain the other day. When you pass cars with the top down and doors off, you get a lot of looks. Probably thinking "look at that idiot".

Hahaha, that is too funny!! Not the fact that you got caught in the rain, but I was gonna write the same post from this past Saturday, lol.. It was my wife's first time ridding with the tops off, doors off (me and the kids do it all the time), kids in the back seat, and leaving from the beach. Seen the thunderhead formed up real nice out to the east, and moving west, toward the beach, lol.. So my wife starts up "I knew we shouldn't have done this... You know this is florida, and this was going to happen".. Listen woman, we got this.. Almost made it home, and a wall of water was blocking the road ahead. So we ducked in to a gas station, under the overhang. I saw a gap, and shot for it. We got a couple of sprinkles, but the kids thought it was the coolest thing ever. It was my first time getting caught like that in the rain, and I'm sure it won't be the last..

Been there man. Drive faster. My theory is if you drive fast enough, all the rain will hit the windshield and won't fall inside. :) Of course that does nothing to stop the rain that swirls around and hits the inside of the windshield making it nearly impossible to see.

Hahaha, I did that, and you are soon right.. I had to use one of the beach towels to wipe off the inside of the windshield... Ahhh, the adventures of being a new Jeep owner, lol

Well I got it again today! Now the carpet is out and drying in the garage!! Question, is there anything that I need to do or worry about as far as waterproofing the instrument panel, radio, ext?

Ha! I got with my top down as well just this afternoon. It was sunny and hot when I left the house; when I walked out of the store it was still hot, but big 'ol raindrops were falling. I mean, what the hell...it NEVER rains in Dallas in the middle of July...lol. I just popped the detachable faceplate out of my stereo to keep it from getting wet and drove home. I didn't even bother to put up the top since I figured it would take longer to do that than the rain would last this time of year.

Does it still work?

Clock springs in the steering column for the air bag are pretty easily damaged from being rained on. If the radio gets damaged you could replace it with a marine unit.

Instrument panel, i dont really know. it does have a rubber seal on the odometer button..

Carpet can stink after being rained on.

Seats dry out quick in my experience.

The toothpaste crap that you see on the floorpan and under the back seat after pulling the carpet can trap water under it and rust your floorpan out.

I removed the toothpaste crap, bedlined it, and rock without carpet.

Now, if you notice, the fuse box is under the hood and waterproofed with a rubber seal. And i havent been into the computers in the wrangler, but generally on *any* car the circuit board is dipped in a waterproof silicone or whatever. But the connectors on them could potentially corrode.

You're not going to be real bad of from getting rained on, but its not real good either

the faceplate is probably the least of your worries on the radio.

Well brother, me being new to the Jeep world, I can't really say from experience, but I have talked to many of my Jeep brothers.. I have a Sahara Unlimited that's loaded down with everything! Power everything, navigation screen, a bunch of buttons and shit on the steering wheel that I still haven't even used.. the best I've been told so far is to have an "emergency towel" on hand. If you get caught out again (which we all will) then use the towel to cover your dash till you can get somewhere dry, quick!

Anybody else, feel free to chime in if you have a better solution.. I will say though, taking the carpet out and rhino lining the entire floor, and drain plugs looks pretty cool on a few of my buddies Jeeps...

Im with ya.

Just got caught for my first time today picking the kid up from daycare. It was all nice and sunny leaving work, but a pop up shower got us. To make it worse traffic pinned us onto the exit ramp, which left us just sitting there enjoying the shower. Kid had a ball.

my sat radio quit on me and my radio went crazy for a few hours after I got drenched. it would play music on the left side, then the right side, then nothing at all.

it works now after it dried out, but sat ratio does not. It actually pops a code!
