Cheap/easy cargo net idea

I got a pair of coat hanger hooks with my Jeep, I think they are standard with Saharas and/or 4 doors. I'm very unlikely to be hanging clothes from them any time soon, and I like the cargo net that sits in the back of my husband's Grand Cherokee; it is great for holding 6-packs etc so they don't slide around the back of the vehicle.

So I figured that if I got a cargo net ($8.99 from Amazon) and put the hooks on the bottom of the rollbars, I could use the rest of the tie downs to replicate this kind of net... or have any old net position I liked.

Anyway, just an idea, if anyone else has these hooks lying around doing nothing.

Fantastic idea! I tossed the hanger hooks in my tool chest and I didn't have any plans for them.

I like your idea but I'd like to find a storage cargo similar to the Toyota storage net. It has a pocket to store things or you could put hooks on all four corners to replicate the "net wall" effect. I think I might just buy the Tacoma net, but then again it may be too wide.

Or these are some others...

ive been doing that since my tj. they work great. i run one on each side to hold sutff up to the fenderwells so theres room for the dog when i go camping
That's a good idea to use them on the sides. ^

But I can't really see over the side of my Jeep into the tub. It's sort of tall. Or I'm sort of...height challenged. :hide:

The Tacoma net might well be too wide; there's only 32 inches or so between the tie downs in the back of the Jeep.

I should add that the net I bought comes with about three thousand hooks; I took most of them off, but you won't have any trouble attaching it to things. I do wish it had smaller netting holes but there you go; most of the ones I found online were designed for bigger truck-type usage and too wide for my purposes.

Ahh, good to know. I was just wondering what sort of width we're working with back there. I'm off to search the internetz for an appropriately sized storage net.

both of mine came with the wifes old car when she bought it. they were wrapped up in the trunk. i have no idea what size there supposed to be but they work well for hold windows too.

i also use it to keep the mutts in the back
