Lately I'v e had a prob in my 98. starts up fine every time i drive it (weekend driven) the volt gauge is not at 14 and after driving for a bit the "check gauges" light comes on and the needle is at the bottom 9 volts, I had the prob before but it was going to opposite side of the gauge, and it finally went away. Since i put in an Optima Yellow Top. KC lights drained it somehow i think about a month ago and had to get it recharged. since then disconected the lights and now this problem has poped up?.....

Your alt is going bad, mine was doing the same thing for a while too since replacing it everything has been normal.
I had it tested and it passed, but problem was intermittent so it wouldn't detect it...
