I Have a code PO456. It says it has something to do with a gas cap or evaporation emission leak.
I've checked the gas cap. What in the hell does this mean and how do l fix it without taking to dealer or repair place

Unscrew the gas cap and then put it back on. If that does not work then replace the gas cap with a new one.
If no good after that you may have a leak in the Evap canister. A shop can do a smoke test to find the leak.

When you clear the code it sometimes takes 2-3 days before the fault returns so don't get your hopes up just yet. I was fighting the same thing with my Sebring for a few years until one of the dealer's old school technicians finally found the cause of the problem and fixed it.

I'm going to buy that guy and the service adviser each a steak dinner at Outback.
