I feel ashamed to even make this thread but I have splurged quite a bit on parts in the past month. I usually make sure the parts are made in the U.S., but I came across these headlights that seemed too good to be true:

I highly doubt they are DOT compliant which would be one of my biggest fears other than them cutting out at night. For $16, I was wondering if anyone else has experience with chinese bulbs or could talk me out of this? I am still running the stock bulbs and housing, however only one is working so I constantly have my brights on.

There are no LED drop-ins that reflect off the OE parabola properly/legally/safely.

Do you want to trust your life to these things?

I concur with hilldweller. Don't drop in cheap LED bulbs into your headlights. They will glare and not put down much light on the road. I tried Oracle LED bulbs in my Charger and they were decent but didn't go far.


The only LED bulb I would consider are the new SL1 from Diode Dynamics. However, for an even better solution... I'd go with something other than those lousy H13 bulbs. Get a nice IPF H4 lens setup and throw in some Xtremevision H4s in there with a lighting harness from Rallylights.com. You'll love them.

Proper housing, H4 bulbs and harness make HUGE difference.
I actually replaced my JW Speakers with Hella headlights with Xtremevision H4 bulbs + Rallylights harness and couldn't be happier.

I really appreciate all the input here. I would rather get as far away from the stock output without spending too much. So what I gather is that I should grab a whole new housing that will fit the H4 bulbs and then some bulbs. Here's my setup
1) Hella H4 e-code headlights
2) Philips X-treme Vision +130% Headlight Bulbs
3) Rallylights H13 to H4 Headlamp Harness

Harness is optional and you can get away with just a pair of simple H13 to H4 pigtails, it still be a noticeable upgrade over the stock lights, but IMHO - having a true 12v to the bulbs is really worth it.

Those are good bulbs --- yes.

Cibie reflectors will work better than Hella for normal driving. The Hellas have a superior highbeam but at the sacrifice of lowbeam.
Hellas cost less; I was happy enough when I used them on the road. Cibies are better though, wider spread of light, fewer hot-spots.

My bad. I had the Hella version, since I ordered the package from RallyLights that came with the lens, harness, and some bulbs.
