Hey fellas, so I just got a 86 cj and I got a 304 amc engine and need some help with finding an adapter for my transmission. It’s a stock manual transmission. Thank y’all
Do you have any bell housings off of the 304 or any AMC 6 cyl. I put a 304 in a CJ I had as I remember the bell housing was off of the 6 cly. engine that came in the jeep. You will need a 304 flywheel. Good luck , I loved my CJ 7 with the 304. I had a T176 4spd. in mine.
How did you come up with a 304? I drove a 1978 CJ-7 with a 304 since it was new. Ten years ago I swapped it for a 401. NIGHT & DAY difference. It cost no more to build than a 304.
I bought the last 401 flywheel from one of the Jeep catalog companies, don't remember which one.
