Clutch is out on the Jeep. When the clutch pedal is depressed, I can hear fluid sound like it's passing through the slave cylinder. Time for new assembly, correct? Current one is full of fluid that all looks good.

2nd Question. Is there a preferred brand? Is NAPA okay, or do y'all recommend something different?

Thanks,
kgonzo

Does your slave leak? Have you tried bleeding the system? Search in the tj forum only and look for “clutch bleed”, and it’ll lead you to a lot of info. From reading it seems your not suppose to bleed these master/slave units, but that seems stupid to me. After reading a bunch it is possible to just replace the slave if it’s leaking, and just replace the slave for half or less than the $200 price of the master/slave unit.

I always buy LuK clutches and master/slave sealed units. LuK is the Jeep OEM brand. No bleeding needed. I paid $85 at Rockauto.com. 30 minute job.

My current system came from Napa, works fine been there for a number of years, I have at least 100,000 miles on it.

By the way, these are closed systems, without provisions to bleed them.
X2 on the Dura Last, I would steer clear of Auto zone Duralast parts.
