2" coil spacers work well to give you a bit of lift without breaking the bank. They're not difficult to install at all, you just need some basic hand tools, a good floor jack, and jack stands. Longer shocks are a good idea but not usually absolutely needed.

Jack up the vehicle and then support it via jackstands under the frame. Unbolt the shocks and swaybar links (just their lower mounting bolts, the upper bolts can remain in place. At that point, you should be able to get the springs out and insert the spacers so the springs are under them. Do support each axle with a floor jack until you get the lower shock and antiswaybar link bolts unfastened, then lower the axle down via the jack until it is drooping which makes it possible to remove the coil springs. You can actually remove the bolts holding the shocks and antiswaybar links before jacking it up which can make the job go a bit faster.

A 2" lift can (but not always) cause minor drivetrain vibrations which are easily cured by just dropping the transfer case skidplate a half-inch which reduces the drivetrain angle that causes the vibrations. The transfer-case skidplate can be dropped a half-inch just by placing washers over the t-case bolts between the skidplate and frame, or via a t-case lowering kit but which lower them down 1" instead. I prefer just using washers as you can buy enough of them to do the job for just a few bucks. :)

thank you for all of your help! that info helped a bunch. second is there a brand you would recommend? I have been looking at the Teraflex spacers
Tera's polyurethane spacers are good quality, those that I have ever seen meant for a TJ are perfectly fine. I would only avoid some of those cheapie tubular steel spacers like are often sold on eBay. :)
